]]>But he meets Shay, an ugly fellow, who isn’t sure he wants to turn into a beauty. As Shay escapes, Tally learns a fact from the beautiful world—which is shocking and turns out to be not as pretty as she looks.
Tally was in the worst situation she could have ever imagined: betraying her own friend or not turning into a good-looking one at all. Tally’s choice will change her world forever.
All the ugly people in Uglyville had to wait until they were 16 before they were finally transformed into good looks. Physically, they would look absolutely perfect. Beautiful eyes, charming smile, smooth and clean skin, symmetrical face shape and various other changes. What is certain is that turning into beautiful means many things. Being beautiful will have a positive impact on anyone. That’s what they believe.
The problem is waiting for that change to happen is excruciating. Even when it was only three months away. As experienced by Tally Youngblood. Actually he wasn’t this nervous back then, when Peris, his childhood best friend, still lived in Uglyville and hadn’t had surgery. However, once Peris became part of the Beautiful City, Tally found her days to be very boring and worst of all she felt really lonely. Imagining daily conversations with Peris would only drive him crazy. That’s why one night, Tally was determined to infiltrate Handsome Town to meet Peris.
Infiltrating the city where the Beauty lived had actually been done often with Peris. So don’t be surprised if he can easily cross from Uglyville to Handsome City without being caught. But when he decides to return to the dormitory, Tally gets into a bit of a problem. Luckily he met Shay, an ugly girl and also often secretly visited the City of Beauty.
In no time, Tally and Shay became very close. They do a lot of fun things. Tally learns how to ride a Hoverboard and modify it. He really enjoyed every time they spent together. He hoped all of this would last even when the surgery was over. Unfortunately his hopes never came true. Because it turns out that Shay refuses to be beautiful.
From Shay, he knew there were a lot of people out there who refused surgery and decided to be ugly forever. They fled and settled in Smoke. Shay would do the same and hoped Tally would come with him. Unfortunately Tally decided to stay and be beautiful.
The sadness of losing Shay lingered even on the day he had been waiting for so long. But it wasn’t a big day for Tally. Because there is no operation at all. Unless he revealed all he knew about the runaway beasts. Tally must choose one, break her promise to Shay or be ugly forever.
Exciting, that’s the word I chose to describe the entire contents of this novel. From a city setting with a very strange concept, a gloomy past history and of course the technology used. The word Hoverboard is a word that caught my attention and became a trigger to continue reading this book to the end. If you’ve ever watched Back to The Future III, the thing that looks like a skateboard is certainly no stranger. I thought about when Marty McFly was at the same time as Tally.
The idea of plastic surgery to be beautiful, the reasons for the people who hold the power to keep everything on the rails they have set and the various secrets behind it are also the main attraction in this book. Can’t wait to read the continuation of this book.
From wikipedia, 20th Century Fox adapted this novel to the big screen and is planned to be released next year. I hope the results are cool.

]]>Until one day his father brought home Joshua, a Brazilian tortoise who can secretly fly, telepathy, and talk, though only to Marcel.
Together, the two of them experience various exciting adventures: flying over the ocean waves, freeing a kidnapped Colonel, helping a friend who is about to be deported, and even learning to take penalty kicks and eventually becoming the mainstay of the school football team.
Marcel Groen’s life in the past few years has been quite unpleasant. Since his mother left for India, he has to live with the love of a father who is very busy with his research. Everything got worse with the arrival of Meurouw Kramps. Initially, the woman who works as a social worker came to give a consultation. But in the end, he more often interfered in the lives of Marcel and his father. To his annoyance, Kramps often cornered Marcel. Even for the little things. No wonder Marcel doesn’t like women who are increasingly hanging around Marcel’s house.
At school, it was no less bad. Marcel was always the butt of. No one seemed to want to be his friend. Which made him very sad, he was never even invited to play. Even when his school’s football team was short on people. Marcel was hurt by him. So far, he has only often tried it through games on the computer. But Marcel really wanted to play.
It didn’t stop there, there were two boys who always pranked Marcel every time he came home from school, making the world even more unfriendly. For Ed and Luc, Marcel is easy prey to be punched and beaten with their own judo hoops. Once, they managed to throw Marcel into the river. The misfortune that made Marcel have to avoid the two poisonous brothers.
Until one day, Professor Groen, Joshua’s father, brought home a giant tortoise, which was more than 1 meter long. It was not only the size that surprised Marcel but also knowing that the Brazilian tortoise could secretly talk. Even if only for him.
But it didn’t take long to get rid of the awkwardness. In no time, Marcel and Joshua became very close. There was no longer a lonely Marcel because now his days had become more pleasant. Together with Joshua, Marcel did a lot of exciting things. He also learns a lot from animals who love wormy milkshakes. Even if they have to do it secretly. Because every move Joshua observed by the Professor.
Unmitigated, a Neuromatascanner, a sensor, is used to determine the brain activity of the turtle whose body is filled with green, brown, yellow lines everywhere and light blue dots. But it wasn’t a big deal that kept Joshua and Marcel from having fun.
~~
I’m sorry I’m only reading this book now. Even though I have owned it two years ago. This book is intended for children, but it is still fun to be enjoyed by anyone, including adults. Even when the book was filled with so many typos, I didn’t feel bothered at all. Because this one error is also the main attraction.
Although I was a little confused when dealing with the chapter that discussed the football match that Marcel participated in, there were many things that made me choose to finish it to the end. One of them was Joshua’s funny behavior and words, which made me laugh out loud. Even though at first this one turtle looks very silly. Not only funny, sometimes Joshua’s words touch me. There’s nothing wrong with making this book a part of the collection.

]]>A few years later, they moved to Live Oak, a town that was nearly abandoned by its inhabitants. The two live in the house of Sophia Kelly, the owner of a beautiful chocolate shop. Gretchen and Ansel begin to forget their dark past, until Gretchen meets Samuel. He said that witches were still hiding, lurking from the forest, preying on girls whenever Sophia held a chocolate festival.
Gretchen decided to fight back. He wanted to know why it was his twin sister who disappeared while he survived. And he was sure of one thing: the monster would come again, and he would not leave until he was full. (goodreads)
After writing Sisters Red about sisters Scarlett and Rosie hunting a werewolf, Jackson Pearce is back with Sweetly. Whereas in the previous book he chose Red Riding Hood, in Sweetly Jackson Pearce wrote a story based on the story of Hansel, Gretel and the witch complete with her gingerbread house.
At first I thought I would find Scarlet, Rosie and Silas again. However, Fenris’ hunting adventure this time brought me to new characters. So for those who haven’t read Sisters Red, there’s no need to worry. Sisters Red and Sweetly’s story stands alone. Even though the two of them were still connected to the monstrous being, Fenris.
Ansel, Gretchen, Sophia and Sam are four important characters in this book. All stories are seen from Gretchen’s point of view. I don’t think there’s anything special about the character who often tells how sad he is. The fear and trauma of the forest is also not visible. Gretcehn’s character comes alive when she meets Sam and gets involved in the hunt for Fenris. Especially when he tries to uncover the secrets that Sophia is hiding. The figure of Ansel, Gretchen’s older brother, a character created almost completely devoid of emotion. Because of that too, brother and sister seemed to be an inappropriate word to give to Ansel and Gretchen. Because from the first page they don’t look like brothers. Although Gretchen repeatedly referred to Ansel as her brother at every opportunity. The impression I get is that they are more like traveling companions. No more.
Compared to the sibling bond or the love affair between Sophia and Ansel, each chapter that tells how Gretchen and Sam’s relationship is much more interesting. It was great to read all the things that happened to these two. It was Sam who made Gretchen’s presence even more pronounced.
Sophia, a beautiful woman who owns a chocolate shop who has a lot of secrets. The only thing I’m really curious about. From the chocolates he makes to all the things he hides. Allegation after conjecture emerged. All his kindness and friendly demeanor caused a bit of fear. Just in case it’s all just a mask. I was wondering when he would unmask and start doing nasty things to Ansel and Gretchen. Sophia’s mysterious attitude almost made me believe all the accusations made by Sam or the few remaining Live Oak residents. It’s also what makes me impatient to get to the last page.
Fenris doesn’t get much of a role here. There are only a few chapters that tell of battles involving these imitations. The impression of spooky, savage, cunning and cruel is still felt. Unfortunately they look much weaker and are very easy to take down. Although they don’t appear often, their presence in the last chapters is quite exciting.

]]>The post Blue bloods – A book by Melissa De La Cruz : miss-velvet appeared first on 40k Books.
]]>Blue Bloods, this book is told from the perspectives of Madelaine “Mimi” Force, Bliss Llewellyn, and Schuyler Van Alen. They took me to explore some important places in Manhattan, New York. From The Bank, an old building converted into a nightclub to Duchesne, a private school where they study. They did not forget to reveal family history. So it doesn’t take long to get to know them.
Mimi Force, a very popular sixteen year old girl. Her fame is not only in school. For New York reporters, her beautiful and attractive face was no stranger. His father and mother, Charles Force and Trinity Burden, two important figures in the media world and high society in New York, made this possible. This popularity also made almost all the female students in Duchesne want to be his ladies-in-waiting. As if there was never a problem with his arrogant attitude.
Bliss herself is a transfer student. Like Mimi, Bliss’s father also had an important influence. This situation also makes him get to know Mimi and become a part of her glamorous life. Unfortunately that didn’t make him feel at home. Even after months of moving to the Duchesne, he still didn’t like his new life.
Unlike Mimi and Bliss, Schuyler was born into a simpler family. Despite having a long and important family history in the past, it turned out to be not enough. He was still an outcast in the Duchesne. But that didn’t discourage him. Schuyler had no trouble living his life. After all, he still has Oliver, his best friend since childhood. And that’s more than enough.
Despite being born from different backgrounds, Blue Blood is the common thread that connects the three. Blue Blood is the term vampires use to refer to themselves. A meeting of the Committee revealed all of this. From the meeting for the limited circle it was all revealed. Unlike Schuyler and Bliss who only found out about this fact, Mimi had known it a year ago. But he never thought that when he learned that Schuyler, the daughter he had underestimated, was part of the elite who had lived in New York for centuries. For Bliss, what was revealed at the Committee meeting was the answer to all the questions that had puzzled her for the past few weeks. Even though he was surprised, he couldn’t hide the immense relief.
Not much different from Bliss, Schuyler could hardly believe what he was hearing. However, from Mrs. Duppont the leader of the Committee, he finally understood the awkwardness he felt. The sudden appearance of Beauty, his pet dog, was not a coincidence. His ability to see in the dark or how his body remained thin now no longer surprised him.
More secrets were revealed since the Committee meeting ended. Not only from his grandmother, Oliver, also turned out to keep an important secret. What is surprising is when he finds out many things behind the death of a girl at his school. The incident that a few weeks ago caused an uproar was not the first time that happened to the Blue Bloods. The possibility of the same thing and more severe is very large. Their existence is threatened. Although the members of the highest council from the circles denied the existence of this news, they could not cover it up, that there was a large group out there calling themselves Silver Bloods who were ready to kill them at any time.
It’s nice to know that this book has been translated. The high ratings from some outside bloggers made me curious about the stories inside. The stars they gave for this book did not lie. Melissa’s ideas in each chapter are very interesting. He did not hesitate to give birth to a different vampire character. In the new world he created, neither the sun, the garlic nor the cross were myths. Count Dracula’s ruthless figure was just a figment. Even though Melissa’s writing at the beginning of the vampire’s life cycle is a little confusing, it all becomes clearer as I move on to the next chapters. The part that I like the most is when I read the chapters that talk about Blue Blood, Silver Blood and Red Blood.
Melissa also managed to bring some of the characters in this book to life. One of them is Mimi. From start to finish, I was annoyed and embarrassed by all his behavior. But the role he plays is one of the most important parts of this book. I also love Oliver and Schuyler’s friendship. The mysterious attitude of the Blue Blood Council or Cordelia, Schuyler’s grandmother also keeps me curious.

]]>There are actually many translated books that also keep the original title. Until now, I have not found a reason why the people involved in publishing the book decided to do these things.
For some books, there may be no problem translating literally. But not with this Twilight word. Although it has been used as the title of several books, I never really understood its meaning. Oxford – Advanced Learner’s Dictionary is an option to help overcome my lack of vocabulary.
Noun: The fait light or the period of time at the end of the day after the sun has gone down
At least the explanation above gives a little overview of the contents of the book and is enough to get my attention to devour it as quickly as possible.
It is not easy to leave something that has been a part of his life for years. But Isabella Swan (Bella) has strong reasons when she finally decides to leave her mother, Renee, and move to Forks, a small town on the Olympic Peninsula in northwest Washington. In that city, Bella will live with her father, Charlie.
Adapting to a new environment was not Bella’s forte. Even to get used to her father, Bella still felt awkward. Especially when starting his first day at Forks High. His introverted attitude made him not have many friends. But it was not a big problem for him.
Mike, Erik, and Jesicca were the students he recognized in every class he attended on the first day. There were a number of other students whose names Bella immediately forgot as soon as they finished mentioning them.
But among the hundreds of Forks High School students who stared at him in amazement, there were five people who didn’t even seem to care about Bella’s presence as a new kid. Edward, Emmett, and Alice Cullen and Rosalie and Jasper Hale, as Jessica called them. Through Jessica, too, Bella learns that they all live in the same house and seem inseparable. Not even one of them had any intention of going to the trouble of joining the other disciples. Bella admitted that Edward Cullen really caught her attention.
Unfortunately, the first impression he got in biology class was not what he wanted. Even out of the corner of his eye, Edward looked terrifying. Especially when he saw the hatred in Edward’s eyes and the attitude of his body that seemed to be trying to get away from him. Bella lost hope.
But days passed, and Bella finally had a chance to talk to a mysterious and very charming boy. It didn’t take long to realize that everything about Edward was captivating. From her pale white skin, a pair of golden eyes, to her melodious voice. What’s worse, his heart beat very fast as Edward approached.
There was nothing strange that Bella felt until one morning with an incident that almost took her life. Bella began to realize that there was something strange about Edward. A mystery enveloped Edward, which he, unfortunately, did not understand. One by one, the theory was compiled by Bella. This also strengthens the relationship between the two, without ever realizing that there is a danger that threatens. Unfortunately, all of that is covered by the feeling that Bella believes is love. Love is deep and unconditional.
An interesting story. Twilight gives something different to teen novels that have been flooded with almost the same theme for the past few years. It’s no wonder that the book, which was first published in 2005, has won several awards. Although perhaps what the judges saw was different from mine.
Well, some characters like Edward are clearly depicted. Unfortunately, Bella, as the central character, does not get the same portion. So, I raise a few questions.
The dialogues in it also easily bring my thoughts into it. Even had time to cause a little jealousy and feel that life is really – really unfair. In the middle of the story, this book reminded me of the Fear Street series, which was booming before being replaced by a series of teenagers.
From Wikipedia and a number of forums discussing this book, it turns out that there is still another book that will tell the next story of Bella and Edward. Unfortunately, there is no information that is usually kept at the end.
